TRAILSIDE
PARK FACILITIES

TAKE A STOP-WATCH!!!!!
In case the scoreboard freezes up.

 |
Bring
a few blank score sheets. The score book is normally locked in the yellow
container in the shed.

The surface is special coated so that INDOOR WHEELS are recommended.
|
 |
The Ashburn Inline Facility is an OUTDOOR facility adjacent to the
W&OD bicycle path and baseball fields.
A portable restroom is normally located in the parking lot near the
baseball fields. It is sometimes
missing at the beginning of the season. The
concession stand restrooms at the far end of the parking lot are open for
baseball.

There is NO running WATER or drinking fountain.
Take plenty of water, especially on hot days.
|
 |
A McDonald's is located 1 mile from the facility, on Ashburn Farms Rd at
Claiborne Pkwy.
|
 |
A 6' chain link fence surrounds the playing surface.
42” high fiberglass boards line the playing surface.
|
 |
There are two players benches and separate team penalty boxes. The referee area is between the player’s benches.
|
 |
Home bench is to the west,
furthest from the shed (on the side of the scoreboard that says “Home”)
|
HOUSE
LEAGUE GAME PARTICULARS
 |
Games are
three 15 minute periods (goalies start at opposite end from own
bench), RUNNING time. Games are
official if two full periods have been played.
|
 |
5 minute sudden victory overtime is played to break ties,
IF necessary, and the game
will not run into the next time slot.
|
 |
Every game must have a goaltender in full goalie equipment. The goalie MAY be changed at the half as long as no undue delay occurs,
and the goalie for the first half MAY become a player. |
 |
Mites
level use a BALL, Mites, Pee Wee, Bantam & HS Varsity levels use a PUCK.
|
 |
5 minute pre-game warm-up.
|
 |
A team must have a legal lineup at game time (at end of warm-up). If a team cannot field a legal lineup, they must forfeit.
If both teams cannot field teams, then each team is credited with a loss.
Official should record this information on the game sheet and have the
coaches sign.
|
 |
There will be an automatic
1 game suspension for fighting or profanity at any time while playing in or after an AIHI event.
Officials should write a game report.
|
 |
If you are timing the game, please keep track of time near the end of the
game. If you have the
scorekeeper/timekeeper keeping time (recommended), please be sure they are aware
of the stop time structure for the last two minutes, if score is tied or within
two goals.

 |
Two
official system is used for all house games when possible.
|
COACHES
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL GAMES
 |
Setting up
scoreboard controller and score book before game time (first game
of day).
|
 |
Supply a score keeper to keep score on paper and scoreboard (Home Team).
|
 |
Both coaches and the referee must SIGN THE SCORE SHEET to confirm the
score was recorded correctly.
|
 |
Supporting good sportsmanship and fun hockey at all times.
|
 |
Taking down scoreboard
controller and score book after last game of the day.
LOCK yellow container in shed at Trialside!
|
 |
Shed container combination is known by coaches (do not distribute),
please make sure it gets locked. |
 |
Coaches provide pucks/balls for games.
|
MANDATORY
PLAYER EQUIPMENT
This
equipment is to be worn by all players at all times when on the rink:
 |
Hockey helmet with full face shield and proper chin strap properly
fastened.
|
 |
Knee, Shin and elbow pads.
|
 |
Street or ice hockey gloves.
|
 |
Inline skates
|
 |
Mouthpieces are REQUIRED equipment for ALL PLAYERS.
Do not allow a player to participate in play without one.
Period!
|
 |
Sticks must meet rule book requirement for blades between 2” and 3”
high. Often sticks will become worn
and become dangerous. If you can
tell by looking at a stick before the game (during warm-up) that it is illegal,
do not allow it to be used in the game.

 |
Enforce the equipment and no jewelry rules.
|

Officials
must wear all equipment specified in the USA Hockey Inline rule book, including:

Black Hockey Helmet

 |
Knee, Shin and Elbow pads.
|
 |
Inline skates
|
 |
USA Hockey
Inline Referee Jersey
|
 |
Black trousers
|
GAME
CANCELLATIONS, SUSPENSIONS, or GAME SUSPENDING PENALTY PROCEDURES
 |
If one of your games is canceled due to weather or other factors, please
call Anne Beltrane, 703 404-2256 (H) or 703 403-8823 (C) and leave a message describing the details.

If you assess a game or gross misconduct, or a match penalty,
e-mail a game report to the Referee Scheduler within 24 hours of
assessing.
