December, 2002 - Ashburn Inferno players go to Susquehanna Sports Center in Lemoyne, PA for the Regional Christmas Bash. The U14 Team goes all the way winning the championship playoff with a 1-0 shut out, what a game!

December 2002 - Early snowfall across the east coast closes the rink, but never fear our rink is clear! Thanks to the help of several volunteers and three snow blowers. Now it is up to mother nature to finish the job.

November 2002 - Two new 12' long Player benches arrive at the rink and a flag now flies over the scoreboard. Many thanks to Jim for helping with the delivery and to Greg for building the benches and installing the flag.

October 27, 2002 - After a 3 week suspension of Youth Sports activities in the Washington Metro area, Games resume and run from morning until night!

October, 2002 - Thanks to the help of many Volunteers the dasher boards have been secured to prevent  opening up and the top and bottom lines have been re-painted. Many thanks to Burleys Rink Supply for donating the materials, and thanks to Rob, Greg, Duane, Richard, Eric & Scott, Bob & Kyle, and Jim for supplying the elbow grease.

September, 2002 - Due to recent sniper shootings in the Washington Metro area all outdoor youth sporting activities are cancelled until further notice, sorry...

 

August, 2002 - After a split decision on the Ball vs Puck debate and a great suggestion from Chris Moffa, this Fall Season we will use a Z-ball for the Mites and Squirts and switch to the ProPuck for the Pee Wee and Bantam divisions. Check out these new Pucks at their Web site ProPuck.com.

 

 

July, 2002 - Three coach select teams go to the Commonwealth Games in Roanoke, VA. All teams bring back medals, U18 Bronze, U12 Silver, and U14 brings home the Gold with a tournament shut out, gets a post game TV interview and makes the evening news!

July, 2002 - Ashburn Inline Hockey acquires new championship trophies. Designed and built by one of our team sponsors, Sports Specialties, This is the new "cup" teams will be playing for.

June, 2002 - Ashburn players form a spring league JV team representing Stone Bridge & Potomac Falls HS at the Potomac Inline Hockey rink. Once again they went all the way winning the championship playoff with a 3-2 win over Westfields HS.

May 2002 - Many thanks to Chris Broadbent for the work he did to improve the lights and hang the new scoreboard. The new lights are 1,000 watts each, 3 times brighter than the old ones. 

Now it's time for some night games!

April, 2002 - The league gives a big thanks to Greg Beltrane who engineered this new scoreboard from start to finish, and to the sponsors, who helped make it possible, and thanks goes to Santech for building this custom beauty!

March, 2002 - Ashburn players form a winter league JV team representing Stone Bridge & Potomac Falls HS at the Potomac Inline Hockey rink. Although some of the youngest players in their division, they went all the way winning the championship playoff with a 2-0 shut out against Westfields HS.

  Ashburn Inferno returns from the National Breakout Tournament at San Diego's South Shores Park. They went all the way to the semi finals taking 4th place!!! They were the only team in the U12 division to beat the now reining National Champs.

January, 2002 - We plan to upgrade the lights at the rink from 400 to 1,000 watt lights (thanks to assistance from the county), and install a new scoreboard if we get enough sponsorships.
